Black White Gallery is pleased to present Immutable, a multisensory exhibition combining moving images, sound, and photography in a multisensory installation by Swedish photographer and director Lowe H Seger.
Immutable opens on the evening of Thursday 22nd February, and runs until Monday 25th February, at 56a Old Broad Street (a stone's throw away from Liverpool Street Station).
Lowe H Seger’s multidisciplinary practice explores opposing realities including the human condition, digital technology, and nature. Immutable is the product of a year of dedicated research and creative endeavour by the artist, designed to question humanity's trajectory in the age of technology. The works on display grapple with apprehensions about existential meaning, social inequality, and loss. Lowe critically examines consumerism, war, and power structures through moving images and photography.
Describing the installation Seger stated, “The artwork accentuates the dopamine-driven addiction to algorithms, prompting a search for meaning beyond material pursuits. It delicately explores the fragility of interpersonal bonds. The narrative expands to include reflections on loss and the subsequent pursuit of value in the face of the rapidly growing evolution of the materialistic world. Ultimately, the work beckons viewers to ponder the profound question of what it truly means to be human, urging a collective effort to rediscover the simple beauty and fragile meaning inherent in life—this is a subtle whisper in a digital storm, advocating resistance against digital dependency.”
Recent solo shows and installations include Not Seeing Is A Flower, Have A Butchers (2022); Origins, Fitzroy House, London (2022); Resurrection, House Of Mass, London (June 2021); Obsolete Dreams, Exlab, London (2021); Pandemic Rationality, Cafe Oto, London (2021). Since 2019, Seger has been an Associate Lecturer for BA (Hons) Fashion Photography at the London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London. In 2022, Seger released his first photographic book, an investigation of the Japanese mindset. The book, "Not Seeing Is A Flower," sold out within a month of its release date.
There will be a one-off exclusive presentation of sound and moving images by the artist at 6.15 pm sharp on 22nd February. Please arrive at 6 pm if you wish to attend this part of the evening as doors will be closed during the screening. To RSVP please click here.
