Unwind in the City: Closing Summer party!

  • Broadworks 57 Old Broad Street London, England, EC2M 1RX United Kingdom (map)

L-R: 1. Buoy Meets Krill. 2. Guohan. 3. Lakumer.

Celebrate the conclusion of our summer programme Unwind in the City with a grand finale!

The closing event will consist of live music from Stephen Dapaah and Buoy meets Krill, a creative lino workshop with Emem Usanga, and wrap up with DJ sets from Guohan and Lakumer.

To celebrate the end of our summer programme Unwind in the City, we will open up our summer-ified terrace and play music all evening long.

Artist Hazel Mead’s site specific mural will be on view to the public, bringing the space to life with bold colours and pattern. We will have exciting and inspiring musicians to conclude our events as we started, with a big party and plenty of opportunity to dance!

The gallery will be open late, showing a new performative exhibition Creating Cosmo Narratives with Karantonas Jewellery. Highlighting the work of resident jeweller Stelios Karantonas.

Our studio floor will host a lino-printing workshop, run by Emem, our resident printmaker and textile artist. The workshop will invite you to unwind and create a moment of peace, as well as a lovely art print.
Please note that the workshop is for up to 12 people, so come on time at 6pm if you would like to join!

Stephen Dapaah is a steel pan musician who has delighted audiences all over the world. He delights in playing music which makes people feel good and want to dance. He plays a variety of styles and genres including; R'n'B, pop, reggae, dancehall, calypso, soul, and funk.

Buoy Meets Krill is your favourite soothe song played from the bath, waves of sound lapping at your jazzy little toes as you drift on a story somewhere between folklore legend and beachy blues.

Guohan draws from a tapestry of organic grooves and global influences. Born in Ningbo, Guohan began shaping his sound within the underground music movement of southern China. After relocating to Nottingham, UK, he became involved with the city’s music scene where he self-released his solo LP ‘Lost Sound Book’ in 2021, and followed with EP ‘City of the Sun and Moon’ in 2022 on Darker Than Wax.

Lakumer found his eclectic music taste through watching the 411VM skateboard videos in the 90s. He discovered electronic music through Cambridge’s drum and bass and house/techno scenes, attending iconic parties such as Warning, The Priory, and Spoonfed. In 2010, he co-founded Remote Records with brothers Ed and Wil Maddams, an underground house label, hosting parties in Cambridge and London until 2014. In 2020, Lakumer started LIBL with UMARGA, championing obscure electronic sounds. More recently, he set up Engineered Studio, where he serves as the lead mastering engineer.
